Limber Up: City Swan
Ballet dancer Minami Ando takes on the challenges of finding her feet in New York City, grounded by her Japanese culture.
Born in Hiroshima before relocating to New York City to study at the Joffrey Ballet School, dancer Minami Ando is navigating the professional dance world with a quiet strength founded on her Japanese upbringing.
Recognizing how profoundly Japanese culture has shaped her – its emphasis on selflessness and dedication igniting the discipline required of her craft, and the resolve to stand up to New York’s harsh realities – Ando opens up her life and experiences to director Myong-Hun Oh for short documentary City Swan.
“Minami's ballet skills immediately enchanted me – rarely have I met someone with as strong a character. Our conversations revealed how challenging her life is, yet how profoundly her Japanese culture has shaped her. Gratitude, never giving up, always working harder.”
Through the fierce competition of pursuing a ballet career, and the emotional challenges of chasing her dream in a foreign country, City Swan offers an intimate portrait of Ando’s world, and the passion that stabilizes her work ethic. Capturing her measured movements on the streets of Manhattan over a four-day shoot, Oh observes how her environment and philosophy intertwine and conflict, simultaneously, generating a powerful drive to succeed against the odds.

UNBOTHERED
"Unbothered" is an emotionally charged film that dives into the life of Jeldri Vallejo, a woman who was abandoned by her mother at the tender age of three, only to be raised by her godparents in the heart of the Dominican Republic. The scars of this early abandonment have left a profound impact on Jeldri, leading her on a journey marked by struggles with depression and a desperate brush with suicide…
One of those exceptional projects where everything fell into place. With a compact crew, just three days of shooting, and an abundance of positive energy, we went the extra mile to create something truly remarkable.
